Jasper is a lovely 8yr old chocolate male neutered working Cocker Spaniel.
Due to a new baby in the household the family are no longer able to give Jasper the exercise and commitment he needs, and having had him from a puppy are rehoming with a heavy heart.
Jasper is a very quick and intelligent dog who requires a high level of not only exercise but mental stimulation. We are looking for a particularly active/outdoorsy home for Jasper and preferably one with experience of working breeds.
Jasper has always been a little ‘sensitive’, he is wary of new people, although he warms to them quickly, he can also become anxious and scared.
Jasper also has a sensitive stomach which after much investigation over the years has been resolved by a raw food diet, and this would need to be continued by the new owner. Information and support on this will be provided.
In his early years Jasper received some gun dog training and responds well to the commands already taught to him, which the current owner is happy to pass on. He is whistle trained for recall.
He does pull when walked on a lead, but is generally walked off lead.
Jasper very much likes his treats, toys and food and has demonstrated some guarding behaviour which would need to be worked on by his new owner.
Due to this, his high energy levels and his nervousness we would not recommend a home with small children.
He is good with other dogs, and currently lives with two other dogs so could live with other similar type dogs subject to successful introductions.
He can be left for reasonable periods of time up to 6 hours. He is crate and house trained and travels well in the car.
Jasper is a lovely dog who will thrive in the right environment.
